Biography

Tim Schick is a self-taught painter born in 1947 and currently residing in Idaho.  Like many who pursued only showing his work in later life Tim made his living in various professions, all the while finding time to paint when he could and learning what he could from books and more recently videos.  A list of admired artists would occupy an entire page of this website.  Some are Schmid, Kuhn, Christenson, Aspevig, Gruppe and Rungius.

Tim's paintings are acrylic and mainly on masonite or composite board (Practically indestructible and easy to frame.  Frames are not included.).  Perhaps an overriding philosophy with Tim is that good original art should be reasonably affordable and to this end he has priced the work in this website within the reach of those who would like to own it.

Landscape Art

Until recently this genre (dating back to the 70's) was the focus of Tim's work.  From scenes of the East (he grew up there) to the West when he moved to Colorado.  Also there are paintings from numerous trips to Canada and Alaska.  The style is what Tim might call loose realism.  You may see a few still lifes which are considered a type of landscape.

Wildlife Art

Recently Tim decided that painting wildlife (bears and moose are particular favorites) was as interesting as the natural surroundings in which they are found.  Also he found a new world in the paintings of Kuhn and Rungius as well as many others.  Painting wildlife is a particular challenge because of anatomy and creating interesting blends of wildife and landscape.

Check out Tim's work on the following pages and you won't be disappointed in the value for your money.  Should you have a favorite landscape photo that might be a painting please inquire about a commission to paint it.  Tim has done a number of these over the years to the satisfaction of the client.  Perhaps the best compliment is "it looks like the place".
